ICE Harassment of Day Laborers
Home Depot parking lots have repeatedly become sites of immigration enforcement involving day laborers and vendors. Home Depot says it does not coordinate with ICE or CBP and is not notified in advance.

In 2025, Home Depot removed its public “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” section and replaced it with “WeAreTHD,” which omits the words diversity, equity and inclusion.
Home Depot uses Flock automated license-plate readers in parking lots. The company says they are for theft prevention and that it does not grant federal law enforcement direct access.
Investors and civil-rights advocates have raised questions about data sharing, privacy, and how vehicle data collected in store parking lots may be accessed through the wider Flock network.
When a company’s policies do not match your values, move the purchase. Hardware, lumber, garden supplies, plumbing, electrical, and home-improvement spending all have local alternatives.
Day laborers have long gathered near some Home Depot locations looking for short-term construction and landscaping work. During intensified immigration enforcement, those same parking lots became recurring sites of arrests and raids.
Home Depot says it does not coordinate with ICE, CBP, or other federal agencies and is not notified before enforcement activity occurs.
Context: The boycott criticism is not that Home Depot has admitted coordinating raids. It is that advocates want the company to do more when enforcement repeatedly takes place on or around its property.
Retail Brew reported in May 2025 that Home Depot had removed a section of its corporate website titled “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” and replaced it with a page called “WeAreTHD.”
The previous page had described a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture as a competitive advantage. The replacement page retained employee stories but omitted the explicit DEI language.
Context: Home Depot said it remained proud of a welcoming culture and did not say the website change meant the company had abandoned every diversity-related practice.
Home Depot publicly acknowledges using license-plate readers in its parking lots for theft prevention and customer and associate safety. The company says it does not grant federal law enforcement direct access to those readers.
Investors nevertheless asked Home Depot to review its relationship with Flock Safety and disclose how data collected at stores and parking lots could be accessed through local law-enforcement relationships or the wider Flock network.
Context: The concern is about indirect access and governance risk, not a claim that Home Depot has admitted directly giving ICE its ALPR data.
